NDS - Challenge #2

Whew! This day is going to go by SO fast!!  I needed to do something quick since I spent too much time last hour trying to figure out what to do. Challenge #2 was to make a project using Kraft card stock.  I've had a couple pieces of this for quite some time but didn't know what to do with it. A piece of the checkerboard patterned paper fell out of my scrap box when I was looking for something entirely different - and wah-la! an idea was born.  Umm....this also shows you how far behind I am in my scrapping......four years!!!!  I tend to focus on my travel scrapbooks a lot and my normal life photos suffer in limbo.  But hey - at least my vacations are up to date!

National Scrapbook Day - Challenge #1

Good Morning!

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!  I am so excited as this is my first time participating with My Pink Stamper's all day challenge event - I hope I can make it through all 12 hourly challenges.  I started a few minutes late, so I'm already stressed - but it's a fun stress!

I used the Sweet Treats and Create-A-Critter cartridges as well as scraps from my scrap pile. I hope to use up a lot of my scraps today. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.  (The inside says...Let's Pig Out)

Paper Doll House - You've Gotta Go!

Hi there!

This weekend, my sister Kristi and I went to the Paper Doll House in Sycamore, Illinois. The PDH is a super wonderful scrapbook retreat that I couldn't recommend more if I were a paid spokesperson! If you're looking for a great, relaxing place to get away and enjoy some uninterrupted crafting time, this is the place you need to go. From the moment I walked into the House, I felt welcomed and right at home. Actually better than "right at home" because I never had to cook, do dishes, or even pick up after myself. My car was unloaded and my stuff waiting at my workstation before the super-sweet owner Mary Kim finished giving us the tour.

The house itself has a rich and interesting history, which Mary Kim and Sheila were sweet enough to explain to us before we left. There is so much detail and many beautiful antiques that something new always catches your eye.

The large craftroom offers tons of space for each crafter and plenty of room for you to get organized so you don't waste time searching for things in your bags all weekend. Oh! And tons of extra lighting so even at 1:00 in the morning, you can still tell blush pink cardstock from barely pink cardstock. Plus, you have use of all their punches, scissors, cutting machines and more! It seems no detail is overlooked.

Food is always important when you're power crafting.  And Mary Kim has you covered here too. Each meal is home cooked right there on sight - and it is Fantastic!!!  I'm really going to miss the food tomorrow when I have to resume cooking at my house.

The Paper Variety - Polka Dots!

Hi Again!

Okay - another challenge down!  I just love unrestricted crafting weekends!  I should have another one coming up in oh....a decade or so.  ha ha ha!!

The challenge on The Paper Variety this week is POLKA DOTS!  Back to the handy Nifty Fifties cartridge!  I fell in love with this cat. Doesn't it just bring back memories of Boo Boo Kitty?  (Tell me I'm not the only one who remembers who that is.)

Here's my polka dot project!

The black cardstock is from Bazzill, the pink and white is from Stampin' Up. The ribbon is from Offray. The pink bling is from Kaiser. Although hard to see, I also put some Stickles on the collar. The curvy pink layer was run through the DOTS folder on the Cuttlebug.

Flaunt It Fridays - Nifty Fifties

Hi there!

I was so excited to see this challenge on the Flaunt It Fridays blog last night as I had just received the Nifty Fifties cartridge in the mail on Friday morning. I've used it quite a bit this weekend - so many adorable cuts!

The challenge was to use the car on Page 24 of the Nifty Fifties handbook. You can find more about the site and the cool color challenges from Flaunt It Fridays - HERE

The picture doesn't quite do justice to the glittery, iridescent orange paper I used on the car. I was saving this piece of paper for just the right project, and this car seemed to scream out for it!

Except for the paper used on the wheels (scraps), the all of the paper and card stock is from SEI's Birdie Brunch set. The banner is from the same set. I then pop-dotted the card to the front of the card. I wanted the car to really make a statement, so the card measures 8.5 x 4.

Play Date Cafe Challenge #79

Happy Weekend!

I have had the best weekend! It's been non-stop scrapping and card making since Friday afternoon, and now we're starting to wind down and head home. My sister and I found a new scrap  retreat (well...new for us) that I'll be highlighting in a separate post later today. Let's just say it is AWESOME!!!

So late last night I was starting to run out of steam and decided to check the blogs for some challenge inspirations - and I found some I really liked. This one is from The Play Date Cafe. You can find their challenge rules and details - HERE



The challenge was to use gray, lime green and red. Outside of Christmas, I don't usually use red and green together - and gray isn't a color I use very often in any of my projects, so this was a challenge to me.....

I've been doing my best to use up my scraps wherever I can, so all of the card stock was from my scrap stash....as was the ribbon. I ran the gray layer through the Cuttlebug using the Happy Birthday folder and then inked it with red Color Box chalk ink. Although hard to see in the photo, the red layer is on top of a dark gray card base. The dress was cut from Gypsy Wanderings at 3".
