I have had the best weekend! It's been non-stop scrapping and card making since Friday afternoon, and now we're starting to wind down and head home. My sister and I found a new scrap retreat (well...new for us) that I'll be highlighting in a separate post later today. Let's just say it is AWESOME!!!
So late last night I was starting to run out of steam and decided to check the blogs for some challenge inspirations - and I found some I really liked. This one is from The Play Date Cafe. You can find their challenge rules and details - HERE
The challenge was to use gray, lime green and red. Outside of Christmas, I don't usually use red and green together - and gray isn't a color I use very often in any of my projects, so this was a challenge to me.....
I've been doing my best to use up my scraps wherever I can, so all of the card stock was from my scrap stash....as was the ribbon. I ran the gray layer through the Cuttlebug using the Happy Birthday folder and then inked it with red Color Box chalk ink. Although hard to see in the photo, the red layer is on top of a dark gray card base. The dress was cut from Gypsy Wanderings at 3".
Thanks for visiting!!

Sweet card, Kim, love how you sponged the embossed background paper! That dress is darling and your design is fab!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fun weekend...they always fly by so fast, don't they?
Anyway, thanks for joining us this week at the Play Date Cafe!
Yes, these were challenging colors, weren't they? I had to think long on them, as well. I like what you did with your embossed background as a way to bring in two of the colors. THe green dress really gives a 'pop', too. THanks for playing with us at The Cafe!
ReplyDeleteIt's great when you can use up scraps, isn't it! Such a sweet card, I love how your dress has the little cutout, really fun! Thanks for playing along with us at Play Date Cafe!
ReplyDeleteLove that you highlighted that embossing with red, it really makes it pop. So glad you gave The Play Date Cafe a try, hope you will play along again. :)
